Canada makes impressive showing in the Gunn Report 2004

The newly-released Gunn Report 2004 recognizes the world's best and brightest, including our Canadian talent. The annual report is a compilation of the world's most-awarded ad campaigns, advertisers, and agencies - and the 2004 version also includes The Gunn Report for Media. The media report recognizes media innovation and creativity based on the results of nearly 40 media contests and festivals around the world.

The creative and media reports have both been sponsored by Procter Gamble with the Strategy media awards being part of the tabulation.

On the creative side, Canada was the 10th most-awarded country in the world and one of only 10 countries with work in the top 50 most-awarded commercials list this year with two: number 11, Bud Light Institute (Greetings/ History) from Downtown Partners/DDB of Toronto and number 17, AGF Investment Funds (Court Stenographer/Flight Attendant), created by TBWA/Toronto.

In the top 50 print ads were the United Way of the Lower Mainland campaign from DDB Canada/Vancouver and BMW of Canada/Mini (Pylons) from Taxi Toronto.

The top advertisers were Volkswagen, Sony, Honda, Adidas, and Nike with Budweiser number six and Mini and BMW nine and 10 respectively.

DDB Worldwide was the most-awarded agency network in the world, and was in the top five for the past five years. Canadian members of the network, Downtown Partners DDB in Toronto and DDB Canada in Toronto and Vancouver are on the top 50 agencies list with TBWA of Toronto and Vancouver.

The Report and Showreel 2004 includes a hardcover book and a DVD of world’s 100 most-awarded commercials and campaigns of 2004.
