Mike Welling is the new president of Toronto’s doug agency. Chairman and chief creative officer Doug Robinson announced the hire today, Nov. 6. Welling brings 22 years of packaged goods marketing and brand communication experience to the agency. At Unilever, he drove top-line and bottom-line growth for such powerhouse brands as Dove, Sunlight, Vim, Becel, Lipton and Knorr. More recently, he has provided strategic brand and business-building counsel to clients in a wide range of industries. He also serves on several industry boards, including the Boards of the Association of Canadian Advertisers, BBM Canada and Advertising Standards Canada. He is currently co-chair of campaign fundraising (along with ICA president Rupert Brendon) for the Marketing Communications Education Trust, which creates the first university-level degrees in Canada with majors in brand and integrated brand communications.
