Pets: Nielsen Media Research Spend Trend

Marketer interest in catering to our furry friends zoomed by more than $6 million between '05 and '06.

While overall spending on pet-related advertising climbed from $8,203,733 to $14,215,619 between 2005 and 2006, television was by far the medium of choice.

This category includes canned and packaged cat and dog food, biscuits and other treats for both animal species, pet care products, stores, services and manufacturers.
