Olive Canada Network partners with ChezJules.tv

Rich-content French website adds new ad opps amid a flurry of promotion.

Olive Canada Network has added recently-launched ChezJules.tv to its roster of brands.

The new site is already earning rapid traffic growth – at 41% last month – with fun high-def clips featuring no-topic-is-taboo discussions. Filmed in the ladies’ restroom of trendy urban resto Theatre du Nouveau Monde in downtown Montreal, the clips star five women of different generations and backgrounds.

With 92,000 monthly page views and 18,000 uniques, according to Google Analytics, T’aurais pu le faire-owned ChezJules plans to create new ad opportunities for advertisers through pre-roll, rich media and product placement within the videos, over and above traditional display advertising, newsletter and sponsorship opps. ‘Chez Jules is extremely open with respect to the types of advertising opportunities they are providing advertisers,’ Lara Skripitsky, Torstar Digital’s director of marketing, tells MiC.

The site also includes a screenwriter’s blog, anecdotes, links to other artists, a place to display pictures of filming and ‘backstage’ access. ChezJules.tv also provides a community environment where users can interact in real time with renowned TV and film actresses like Jessica Barker, Catherine de Léan, Anne Dorval, Maude Guérin and Janine Sutto.

To help drive traffic to the site, a PR and marketing plan in Quebec includes initiatives in radio (a weekly chronicle on the show Rock Détente by author/director Geneviève Lefebvre), print (a weekly feature for TV hebdo magazine and a piece on Genevieve in Chatelaine‘s September issue), online (banner ads, a Facebook page and Google Adwords) and promotion of chezjules.tv on television including Anne Dorval’s appearance on Bon Baiser de France last month.

The new partnership will further engage consumers with the launch of a two-month contest on Oct. 15 over the Olive network of sites. The prize includes an all-inclusive trip for two to Club Med as well as DVDs, books and artwork autographed by the authors and stars of the show. The contest also entices users to invite their friends to come to Chez Jules.

Olive Canada Network, a partnership between Torstar Digital, a division of Toronto Star Newspapers, and Gesca Digital, represents iVillage.com, CNET.com, ArtistDirect.com, thestar.com, toronto.com, cyberpresse.ca and tetesaclaques.tv. The network’s sites reached 13 million unique Canadian visitors in January, according to ComScore Media Matrix.
