Eight of Canada’s creative community have passed the rigorous Lions scrutiny, and been selected to serve as jury members at this year’s 56th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in Cannes, June 21-27.
Returning to serve on this year’s Media Jury is Starcom MediaVest Group CEO Lauren Richards, who tells MiC it’s the ‘best investment’ [she] can make for the business. ‘Cannes has done a lot for the media industry in their celebration of leading-edge media thinking.’
Joining the Cyber Jury is Taxi Montreal CD Stephane Charier; while the Promo Jury has chosen Syncapse VP, strategy and creative Janice Diner. The Design Jury invited GJP Advertising & Design CD Lisa Greenberg, who was a winner in that new category last year, and on the Radio Jury, Target associate CD Jenny Smith – also a past Lions winner – represents Canada. John St. CD Stephen Jurisic will be toiling on the Press Jury, while the Film Jury will include the 2007 Grand Prix-winning Ogilvy & Mather CCO Janet Kestin. For the Direct Jury, it’s Philippe Meunier, CD at Sid Lee (a frequent Lions winner in this category), who represents Canada.
‘With such a strong judging presence,’ says Andrew Saunders, VP advertising sales at the Globe and Mail, the official Canadian representative of the festival, ‘we now challenge advertising practitioners to place the largest number of Canadians ever on the winners list for Cannes.’
Entry deadlines for the film, press and outdoor categories is Mar. 6; for the Direct, Media, Radio, Design, Promo, as well as the new PR category, Mar. 13; and for the Cyber, Titanium and Integrated entries, Mar. 20.
