New exec at ABC Canada

The Audit Bureau of Circulation has a new VP/GM, Joan Brehl, helming brand innovation at its Canadian office. She meets with the ABC Canada Board in Toronto today before taking the reins on Aug. 4 with plans to approach media buyers in coming weeks with strategic print, digital and mobile opps.

Joan Brehl has been named VP/GM brand innovation and leadership of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC)’s Canadian operations. It’s the latest change tailored to meet the needs of the Canadian market, with broader Canadian representation and increased control over rules and reporting and cost-saving improvements.

Leading the pack with marketing and sales strategies that promote the ABC Canada brand, Brehl will be looking at building relationships with Canadian publishers, media buyers, and industry influencers to develop new business opps in all media, including print, digital and mobile.

Brehl, who will also serve as the staff liaison for the newly formed ABC Canada Board Committee and its advisory committees – the Canadian Newspaper Advisory Committee and the Canadian Print Advertising Buyers Committee – is attending the first meeting of the ABC Canada Board Committee today in Toronto and the North American board of directors meeting in Chicago from July 22 to 24, before officially joining ABC’s executive team on Aug. 4.

Brehl’s background includes 18 years in executive management at Time Canada’s Publishing Group, most recently as publishing director. She also spent several years in the ad agency biz, working at PHD (formerly Harrison, Young, Pesonen & Newell).
