An average audience of 4.57 million (BBM, 2+) watched Canada dominate the US Monday night in the IIHF World Junior Championship semi-final game.
The Canadian win was the most-watched program of the night and the fourth most-watched show in TSN history. Over four million viewers tuned in to TSN and another 507,000 watched on French-language RDS.
Online, TSN.ca registered more than 143,000 live streams, according to data from Omniture.
The other semi-final game between Russia and Sweden had 1.25 million viewers, making it the most-watched non-Team Canada game ever played on the channel.
Numbers from last night’s Canada-Russia gold medal game are expected to be larger and will be released tomorrow. Last year’s gold medal game between Canada and the US is the most-watched show in station history, with 5.4 million viewers.
The tournament has been a ratings giant for the sports channel, with the initial game against Russia pulling 2.9 million viewers, the match against the Czech Republic garnering 2.2 million, the tilt against Norway pulling 1.9 million and the loss against Sweden averaging 2.9 million.
