TSN renews Wimbledon TV rights

It's game, set and match for the Bell Media sports channel as it takes the Canadian rights to Wimbledon for another 10 years.

TSN has put another marquee TV sport property firmly into its fold by extending its TV deal with the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club for the Canadian rights to the Wimbledon pro tennis tournament for another 10 years.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

But the latest contract, to start with the 2012 Wimbledon tournament, will see TSN air the final weekend, including the women’s and men’s singles finals, for the first time.

The new deal also includes the French-language multimedia broadcast rights to Wimbledon for RDS and cross-platform rights on TSN.ca, TSN Mobile TV and on TSN Radio.

With an eye to Bell Media’s multi-platform business, TSN says it will feature start-to-finish live coverage of Wimbledon across its platforms, including TSN and TSN2 airing live simultaneous coverage in the second week of the tournament and expanded coverage of the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals.

TSN also has long-terms deals to air major tennis tournaments including the Australian Open, the French Open and the U.S. Open, which along with Wimbledon make up the Grand Slam of tennis.
