TSN is bringing out its big brooms after adding a multimedia rights deal to its multi-platform agreement with the Canadian Curling Association (CCA) to air its major TV bonspiels.
TSN is assured of hurling the biggest stones in Canadian TV after it unveiled a deal to retain the exclusive Canadian rights to the CCA’s Season of Champions events through the 2019-20 season. The extended deal includes rights across online, mobile, radio and VOD.
The sportscaster gained the full rights to the Season of Champions events in 2007, including the Tim Hortons Brier and the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Prior to that, TSN and CBC shared coverage, with TSN airing curling on weekdays and CBC airing semi-finals and finals on the weekends.
To continue reaching zealous Canadian curling fans, the CBC airs the Grand Slam of Curling events, which are not CCA events.
The new deal with the CCA also allows TSN extended French-language coverage of curling events on RDS and RDS2, as well as Continental Cup coverage in Olympic years.
Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available through Bell Media and the Canadian Curling Association.
