Bell Media announced Wednesday the launch of NBA TV Canada and NBA on TSN, two new mobile TV offerings that aim to score big with basketball fans.
Jason Laszlo, associate director, media relations, Bell, tells MiC that both channels will feature advertising that reflects the ads on Bell’s TV and digital platforms.
He adds that the two channels will help Bell’s Mobile TV service reach basketball fans aged 12 to 34.
Available on smartphones and tablets, NBA TV Canada will offer access to basketball programming, including games from around the league and original shows such as NBA Game Time, Open Court and The Jump. Meanwhile, NBA on TSN will broadcast the NBA All-Star Game, Playoffs, and Finals, as well as Toronto Raptors games and marquee NBA match-ups.
“We didn’t have NBA [coverage] before on mobile. It was, in a lot of ways, a missing piece of the puzzle,” says Laszlo of the addition of the two channels to the platform.
Bell Mobile TV debuted during the Vancouver 2010 winter Olympics, and has since expanded its sports coverage to include hockey, football and cricket.
To reach a broader audience, the service also offers CTV programming and other channels, such as CBC News Network, MTV and Treehouse.
