Bell Media’s CTV has greenlit a second season of The Amazing Race Canada, officially announcing the decision during last night’s finale after-show, which was hosted by the talent of the network’s new talk show The Social.
Last night’s finale saw father and son team Tim Sr. and Tim Jr. take home the first-ever winning title for The Amazing Race Canada, bringing home two 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingrays, the opportunity to fly free for a year anywhere Air Canada flies worldwide in Executive First Class and $250,000.
The episode also featured a branded challenge where the final three teams had to search through Caramilk chocolate bars at the Cadbury factory in Toronto for special golden editions to get a key and pass through to the next leg of the race.
The Amazing Race Canada averaged 3.3 million viewers per episode throughout the season, with 3.5 million viewers tuning into the first episode earlier this summer, according to BBM Canada numbers provided by Bell Media. The media co says the show was the most-watched of the summer and the second most-watched of the year so far, coming in behind The Big Bang Theory.
