The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has changed up some of its Special Awards for 2014, which are awarded based on points accumulated from shortlisted and award-winning work presented throughout the Festival.
Included in the changes, the Media Agency of the Year Award will be replaced by one for Media Network of the Year. The prize will be given to the media agency network that gets the highest score for entries in the Media Lions category.
Only media agencies will be eligible to win the award, advertising agencies that are credited on shortlisted and winning campaigns for Media Lions will see their points included in calculations for Agency of the Year and Independent Agency of the Year, according to a release from Festival organizers. The Media Network of the Year will be revealed in Cannes on June 17.
In addition to ensuring media agencies get credit, the festival has also added a non-mandatory media field on all entry forms. There has also been a place added on all forms for production companies to be named.
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity runs from June 15 to 21.
