They say the classics never die. Survivor pulled out the highest AMA in Canada for the week ending May 3, with an average of nearly 2.3 million viewers per minute. That was the highest of all single-night programs in Canada.
In a rare twist, the second-place finishing program – by a narrow margin of 50,000 viewers – aired at the exact same time. The Masked Singer pulled in 2.25 million viewers.
It was a banner week for linear TV overall, with all of the top-five programs at well over two million average viewers. And, although audiences for evening news continue to over-index against its usual year-round performance, CTV Evening News, the highest evening news broadcast in terms of AMA, slipped down the rankings slightly, coming in 15th overall nationally. That said, in some markets news was still on top, such as Montreal and Edmonton.
