Ford buys the top in Toronto: Media Monitors

Automakers are continuing summer radio pushes in the country's biggest market.

A new automaker has taken the spot as Toronto’s top radio buyer, according to Media Monitors data for the week of July 18 to 24.

The Ford Dealer Association jumped up one spot to take the top, though it was followed very closely by Desjardins, up from fourth the previous week. Public Mobile also made a jump from sixth to third, while Lexus began a new radio campaign in foruth. Subaru, the previous week’s top buyer, dropped to sixth.

With so many automakers and dealer associations in the top ten, auto brands were the most active category in Toronto, followed by consumer services and financial brands.

In Montreal, the list looked very similar to the previous week, with the Government of Quebec, Bell and Subway holding their top three spots. They were followed by GMC in fourth (up from ninth the previous week).

Categorically, government ads were the most present in Montreal, followed by automakers.
