Mobile brands buy big on the radio: Media Monitors

Chatr, Virgin Plus and Public Mobile had a big presence in both Toronto and Montreal.

The big three telcos all gave their value-focused flanker brands a big presence on the radio last week, according to Media Monitors data for Aug. 1 to 7.

Rogers-owned Chatr kicked off a new radio push at the top of the list in Toronto and second in Montreal. Not to be left out, Bell’s value brand Virgin Plus debuted a new push at sixth in Toronto, while increasing a previous buy in Montreal to land at second. Finally, Telus’ Public Mobile kept its previously launched campaign in Toronto steady, dipping only one spot to third.

Outside of mobile in Toronto, the Ford Dealer Association moved up from third to second, with McDonald’s also pushing up from eighth to fourth. In Montreal, the Government of Quebec was once again the top buyer, with McDonald’s holding on to its number three spot from the previous week.

Categorically, wireless carriers were the most active advertisers in both Toronto and Montreal.
