Chatr, Virgin Plus keep up top buys: Media Monitors

While some new entrants shook things up in Toronto, Montreal's radio ads were dominated by telcos.

There was a more diverse group of advertisers on the radio waves in Toronto last week, according to Media Monitors data for Aug. 15 to 21, but things were all about mobile phone and internet plans in Montreal.

In Toronto, Chatr held on to its spot as the most active radio advertiser, but BMO, Toyota and Fido all entered the top four with new radio pushes.

In Montreal, however, it was all about the telcos. Virgin Plus maintained its top spot from the week prior, with Chatr moving up from fourth to second. Fido kicked off a new radio campaign in third, Lucky Mobile jumped into fourth from 53rd, and Bell maintained its fifth place spot.

Categorically, this led to wireless carriers being far and away the most active advertiser category in Montreal, followed by government ads and automakers. In Toronto, financial institutions were are the top, followed by automakers and wireless brands.
