Wireless brands stay on top for one more week: Media Monitors

But other advertisers are getting off to strong starts for their fall radio pushes.

Wireless carriers are still keeping up a strong presence on the radio, according to Media Monitors data for the week of Sept. 5 to 11, but brands from other sectors are looking to start the fall on the right foot.

While Fido jumped up from third to first in Toronto, a host of non-wireless brands made a strong showing at the top, with Subway, Ontario Tourism, PC Optimum and Planet Fitness beginning new radio pushes to round out the top five.

In Montreal, Bell subbed out ads for wireless for internet ads and was the week’s most active radio advertiser. It was followed by Lucky Mobile and Fido keeping up strong radio buys, with Subway and Nissan starting new campaigns in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Categorically, banks and financial services took over as the most active group of radio advertisers in Toronto, followed by QSRs and wireless carriers dropping to third. In Montreal, wireless brands were still in first, followed by internet providers and medical services.
