Air Canada buys the top in Toronto: Media Monitors

Meanwhile, several automakers have kicked off big pushes in Montreal.

Air Canada is boosting its efforts to reach winter travellers on the radio, according to Media Monitors data for Oct. 10 to 16.

In Toronto, Air Canada increased a buy behind its radio campaign, taking the top spot in the city. Co-Operators also increased its buy, moving up to number two, with last week’s top buyer the Government of Alberta dropping to third, though its campaign to get Torontonians to move to province still had a significant presence.

In Montreal, several automakers began new radio campaigns with big buys, led by General Motors, with Nissan and Toyota in fourth and fifth, respectively. The Government of Quebec once again increased its buy to move to second, with Air Canada also having a strong presence here, in third. Last week’s number one buyer, McDonald’s, dropped to seventh.

Categorically, banks and financial services were the most active radio advertisers in Toronto, followed by business services and insurance brands. In Montreal, Asian automakers were the most active, followed by business services and government ads.
