Pinterest TV expands to Canada

The Bay and The Kit have signed on as partners for the live-streamed, direct shopping event.

Pinterest is bringing its direct shopping event to Canada in time for brands to connect with customers ahead of the holiday season with a multi-day event.

First launched in the U.S. last fall, Pinterest TV is a live-streamed direct shopping event. Each day involves 10 hours of live programming, categorized by vertical, where participating brands will showcase popular products, discounts and flash sales, with a direct link to retailer websites to make purchases or taken advantage of discounts.

Pinterest TV debuts in Canada with a “Shop the Holidays” event, running from Tuesday until Nov. 18, featuring four days of shoppable content programming from direct-to-consumer, local and global brands, with a focus of holiday gift-giving.

Pinners will be able to shop the products they see right from the Pinterest TV episode and ask the host questions via chat. To access the programming, users simply click the TV icon in the upper left corner of the Pinterest app to view episodes, live or anytime they want. The vertical categories to be featured are food and festivities, home and décor, beauty and fashion and gift guides.

Over thirty brands and four major North American publishers are taking part in the series. Participating Canadian brands include Jenny Bird, Nudestix, Mejuri, Wayfair and The Bay. Publishers are also leveraging the opportunity to share curated gift guides: The Kit will be Canada’s first publisher to participate in Pinterest TV, while Glamour, Allure, Apartment Therapy and Tastemade will also be hosting Pinterest TV episodes after participating in the U.S. version.
