Subway buys the top in Toronto: Media Monitors

Meanwhile, iHeartRadio boosted its buy in Montreal.

A new year brought a nearly entirely new top five radio advertisers in Toronto, according to Media Monitors data for Jan. 2 to 8.

Subway began a new radio campaign with the most spots bought in Toronto, followed closely by Spence Diamonds. The University of Toronto held on to its third-place spot from the previous week, followed by Reliance Home Comfort and Scotiabank. Canon, which bought the most spots the previous week, dipped to sixth.

In Montreal, iHeartRadio jumped from seventh to first, followed by Elna Sexual Wellness jumping from eighth. Subway’s radio push extended to Montreal, where it bought the third-most spots in the city. The governments of Quebec and Canada rounded out the top five.

By category, QSRs, public service organizations and financial institutions were the most active advertisers in Toronto. Governments, medical services and restaurants were the most active in Montreal.
