New mobile apps for Le Journal de Montréal and Le Journal de Québec aim to provide an easier way for readers to access their city’s latest news, alongside new visual identities.
The entirety of the content published by the two dailies will be available on the apps, which also have features allowing users to archive reports in a library or share articles with friends. There is also a graphic-forward page designed for phones dubbed “En 5 minutes,” which aims to popularize specific topics.
The two daily newspapers have also introduced an interactive tool dedicated to the real estate market. A new interactive map developed by the papers’ investigative bureaus has made it possible to consult real estate transactions throughout Quebec for the past two years. At a glance, readers can view the state of the real estate each neighborhood in order to better estimate the value of their property. The map will be constantly updated with new data and other types of content.
The newspapers have also rolled out a new logo, a modernized version reminiscent of its look pre-2013, across all platforms.
Le Journal de Montréal and Le Journal de Québec are already the province’s most popular online news sites, both in number of page views (over 55 million monthly for Le Journal de Montréal and 21 million for Le Journal de Québec) and number of unique visitors (4.2 million monthly visitors combined, according to Comscore). Their print editions continue to reach one in two Quebecers.
