Leon’s increased its TV presence to promote a new sale last week, according to media monitoring data from AdEase.

The furniture retailer was the most active advertiser in Toronto and Calgary, leaping by 12 spots in the former and six in the latter. It also moved up two spots in Vancouver. The bulk of Leon’s spots were devoted to its latest summer sales event.

Across markets, however, McDonald’s was still the most active TV advertiser, holding on to the top spot in Montreal, Vancouver and on specialty networks, and remaining in the top ten in Toronto and Calgary. The QSR ran a mix of spots, including ones promoting the Quarter Pounder, as well as new ads for its summer drinks promotion.

Subaru and Tim Hortons also had a significant TV presence. The automaker continued its buy supporting the latest Ascent model, while Tims continues to promote its summer beverage lineup.

Categorically, QSRs continued to be the most active group of TV advertisers.
