Shoppers Drug Mart was once again the most active radio advertiser in Canada, according to media monitoring data from AdEase for Aug. 21 to 27.
Shoppers bought the most radio spots nationally, and was in either first or second in every major market, except Quebec City.
It was followed by McDonald’s, which returned to the top ten with the bulk of its buy behind a new campaign for the “Mighty McMuffin” limited-time breakfast sandwich. Virgin Plus and Bell held on to their spots in third and fourth, respectively; Virgin continues to run ads in its new “Obviously” brand platform, while Bell ran a mix of ads for phone and internet services, as well as for its CTV and TSN networks.
Air Miles began a new campaign in sixth, primarily running ads for a bonus points offer.
Categorically, QSRs re-took their spot as the most active group of radio advertisers; in addition to McDonald’s, there were strong buys across markets from Wendy’s. Drug stores moved into second, pushing mobile phone services to third.
