According to AdEase’s most recent report, governments, both federal and provincial, dominated radio advertising for the week of Jan. 8 to 14.

They topped the charts in Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Montreal. While the Canadian government recorded a total of 7,930 occurrences, the Alberta and Ontario governments posted 1,534 and 1,075 combined occurrences, respectively. The Government of Prince Edward Island is also on the list, with 578 occurrences.

Spence Diamonds, which was the most active advertiser the previous week, ranked second. The jeweler scored 5,946 occurrences, 150 more than the week prior.

Category-wise, the top three spending groups in the overall ranking were QSRs, local governments and gyms. As temperatures dropped, heating and cooling services moved up to third place in Vancouver and second place in Calgary, while grocery stores and supermarkets rose to fourth position in Calgary and third place in Edmonton.
