Rogers Communications was the most active advertiser on radio during the week of March 11 to 17.
The latest report from monitoring company AdEase shows that the company made 5,670 combined occurrences, placing first in Vancouver and Calgary, second in Toronto and Edmonton, and ninth in Ottawa. The previous week, it finished third overall with 5,440 total occurrences.
Rogers was followed by Subway Restaurants with 5,427 occurrences, and the Government of Canada, which made 5,426 occurrences and dominated the market the prior week. Tim Hortons finished fourth with 5,425 occurrences, while McDonald’s came in fifth with 3,772. The QSR has been reducing its ad spend this month, after ranking first from Feb. 19 to 25.
Dealerships, on the other hand, have been buying big. Nissan dealers recorded the most occurrences (3,580), followed by Subaru (1,776), Toyota (1,092), Hyundai (1083) and Cadillac (947).
Specific to the creative, McDonald’s notched up 5,142 occurrences with an ad promoting its McMuffin and Small McCafé for breakfast, putting it in #1 in AdEase’s ranking of top ad-spots. Meanwhile, Subway restaurants claimed #2 on that list with 4,982 occurrences of its Black Forest Ham sandwich ad. Rogers came in third place with 2,649 occurrences of an spot promoting the power of its internet service.
