Tim Hortons has once again taken the top spot from McDonald’s as the most active advertiser on TV, according to AdEase’s report for the week of May 13 to 19.

With 2,197 combined occurrences, Tim Hortons ranked first in Vancouver and Montreal and fourth in Calgary and Toronto. The company dominated the TV market for two consecutive weeks in April, from the 15th to the 28th. It reported 2,463 combined occurrences the previous week.

Leon’s Furniture and TD Canada Trust came in second place with 1,757 combined occurrences each. Leon’s joined the list in all markets except Montreal, while TD entered all rankings. TD was also among the week’s biggest movers, after climbing 257 positions to third in Vancouver and 252 spots to sixth in Montreal.

Subaru finished third with 1,672 total occurrences, followed by McDonald’s, which scored 1,628. Last week, the QSR recorded 2,503 total occurrences.

On the creative front, Leon’s placed first in the ranking of top ad spots in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto with its “Spring it On” promotion. Meanwhile, Belairdirect Insurance took the top spot in Montreal, with 255 occurrences of its ad about how simple it is to file a complaint through its app.
