The new PPM figures from Numeris, which cover the majority of the fall season, have been released. During the 13-week period measured by Numeris (Aug. 27 to Nov. 26), some stations made bold jumps in the 12+ demographic, while most of the top stations grew their respective audience shares, indicating increased market dominance.
Toronto: After CHFI swept every demo in Toronto last quarter, bragging rights this quarter went to CBC Radio One, which delivered an 11.8% share for A12+ (up from 10.0%). Adult contemporary station CHFI-FM still took the top spot with women 25 to 54, delivering a 15.3% share (up from 12.7%). Classic rock station BOOM-FM holds the top spot for males in the same demo, posting a 12.4% share (up from 11.7 %). Meanwhile, the once-dominant mainstream rock station Q107 has continued to decline overall in A12+ (5.2%, down from 5.5% last quarter), women 25 to 54 (2.4%, down from 2.9%), and its core demo of men 25 to 54 (7%, down from 7.5%). Millennial males favoured BOOM-FM, giving the radio station a 10.7% share. Women in the 18 to 34 demographic picked CHFI, which posted a 20.6% share.
Vancouver: CBC Radio One also grabs the top spot for 12+ on the West Coast, with a 15.6% share of hours tuned in (up from 12.3%). Taking the top spot for women 25 to 54 was contemporary station QM-FM, posting a 17.9% share (up from 17.7% last time out). Classic rock station FOX grabbed the lead for men 25 to 54, delivering a 12.5% share (down from 13%); it also came out in front for men 18 to 34 with a 15.9% share of hours tuned (down from 20.8 %). When it comes to women 18 to 34, pop station Virgin takes top spot, posting a 14.4 % share.
Edmonton: Adults 12+ picked talk radio station 630 CHED, which posted a 9.1% share of hours tuned in (up from 7.0 % last time out). Adult contemporary station Now Radio takes top spot for women 25 to 54, delivering a 21.2% share (up from 22.0 %). It also took top honours with men of the same age demo, with an 11.0% share (down from 12.5%), men age 18 to 34 (12.5%) and women 18 to 34 (17%).
Calgary: Country 105 leads the way for A12+ with a 9.8% share (up from 9.7% last time out). It remains significantly more popular with female demographics, delivering a 16.5% share for 25 to 54 and (up from 13.1%) 21.7% for 18 to 34 (significantly higher with that demo than any other station in the market). For men, alternative rock station X92.9 won both the 25 to 54 demo (11.8%) and 18 to 34 demo (10.8%).
Montreal: Talk station CHMP 98.5FM is top for A12+ (Franco) with a 20.1% share (making a big jump from 14.8%). For A12+ in the Anglo market, talk radio station CJAD 800 won with a 28.7% (up from 28.1%). Adult contemporary station CITE-FM won with women 25 to 54 (Franco), delivering a 21.0% share (up from 15.7%). For Anglo, adult contemporary/pop station The Beat 92.5 took the same age demo with a 29.9% share (up from 27.9). For men 25 to 54 (Franco), CHMP 98.5FM came out on top at a 19.9% share (up from 15.7%) followed by rock station CHOM-FM with 14.4%. For men 25 to 54 in the Anglo market, CHOM-FM is #1 at 23.7% (down from 25.0%).
