TSN integrates FanDuel into its NFL broadcasts

Segments airing during football games on Sundays aim to help establish the brand during the most active time for sports betting.

TSN and FanDuel’s partnership brings football fans a new way to enjoy the game with TSN’s FanDuel Sundays, running every Sunday until the Super Bowl.

On “FanDuel Sundays,” live two-minute segments are integrated into the broadcast to give fans a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes during every game, thanks to contextually relevant insights from FanDuel oddsmakers. The segments are hosted by Tekeyah Singh, alongside NFL and sports betting analysts Davis Sanchez and Luke Willson. Some of the content will also appear on TSN digital channels and FanDuel social channels.

Although the partnership FanDuel has with TSN spans various sports carried by the broadcaster, Conor Murray, FanDuel’s VP of marketing, says the one that’s most relevant at the moment is football and Sunday, which is an end-to-end NFL football day. “From a betting perspective, football tends to be the big betting sport we see both in the U.S. and Canada. It doesn’t mean we won’t do anything with hockey as well. We can introduce a betting angle across multiple sports, but the one we began with is football. At the moment, FanDuel Sunday is specific to NFL, but we do have some supplementary integrations around CFL.”

FanDuel has only been in the market for about six months and, so far, only in Ontario. As other provinces start to regulate online gaming, Murray says FanDuel will do more with the CFL, since it is a lot more popular in the western provinces.

Typically, sports betting has been a very male dominated space, says Murray, but what FanDuel is now seeing in both the U.S. and Canada an increasing number of females interested in sports betting and getting on the platform. “We want to make sure we’re catering to them as well. If your desire is to be the number one operator, you try to be inclusive.”

As to what’s next for TSN and FanDuel, Murray says, “It’s always evolving. Hockey season just kicked off, the Raptors are going to start playing, the Grey Cup is not far away, then NFL playoffs, with the World Cup thrown in the middle of all that. North America has never had legal betting during World Cup. Canada hasn’t been in the world cup since 1986 so we’re excited to see what the uptake is. It’s a big cultural moment for Canadians. Ireland didn’t make it so I’m looking forward to making Canada my home team.”

In addition to TSN, FanDuel has partnerships with the MLSE ownership group – which includes the Raptors, the Maple Leafs, the Toronto FC, and the Argonauts – and NFL, NHL, NBA, and the NBA players association.
