Corus Studios and McGillivray Entertainment Media (MEM), the prodco founded by host and producer Scott McGillivray, have announced a four-year production commitment and exclusivity deal.
The agreement includes the production of new series and seasons starring HGTV Canada host McGillivray, including Scott’s Vacation House Rules (pictured), which begins production on season five this month. The content will be exclusively distributed by Corus Studios and produced for HGTV Canada, according to a news release.
McGillivray’s library of content includes Moving the McGillivrays and Buyers Bootcamp with Scott McGillivray, as well as the Corus Studios-distributed series Scott’s Vacation House Rules, Scott’s Own Vacation House Rules and Renovation Resort.
Corus Entertainment has also renewed its exclusive licence for all eight seasons of McGillivray’s Income Property for Canadian broadcast across linear, StackTV and Pluto TV. MEM president Angela Jennings said the prodco “recently acquired full ownership of the Income Property library, comprising more than 150 episodes,” in a statement.
Corus Studios announced more than 200 hours of content sales in Q2 2023, helping to offset a decrease in ad revenue for the broadcaster during the quarter.
The deal comes on the heels of several key operations and production hires at MEM as the company “ramps up for growth” in 2023.
