Bell gets in on Molson bid action

A new minority equity interest in Molson bid's to acquire the Montréal Canadiens Hockey Club and the Bell Centre offers the telco giant access to Canadiens content, naming rights to the Bell Centre and deeper marketing and promotional relationships with the hockey franchise.

This weekend, Molson reached an agreement to purchase the Gillett family’s (the Montréal Canadiens’ owners) interests in the Canadiens Hockey Club, the Bell Centre and Gillett Entertainment Group. The deal is expected to close in late August (hinging on the approval of the NHL’s Board of Governors). Today, Bell confirmed its minority equity interest in Molson’s bid – one that will give the communications co more access to Canadiens content, long-term naming rights to the Bell Centre and deeper marketing and promotional potential.
