As the official supplier and regional newspaper publisher for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Canwest Publishing is launching a national marketing campaign across all 10 of its dailies today, and offering advertisers a spot in special sections and Games guides to strut their Olympic stuff.
All ten of Canwest’s regional pubs are hosting their own sites with 2010 Winter Games-specific sections housing local and national content about the athletes, the sports, the venues and Vancity info.
Over the year’s lead-up, a 2010 Winter Games-themed ad campaign, created in-house at The Vancouver Sun and The Province, will be supported by television, radio and online executions and is rolling out nationally to help raise awareness of each paper’s role with the Games. Host city Vancouver will see the installation of 100 custom-designed 2010 Winter Games-themed newspaper boxes in various areas around the downtown core. The Vancouver Sun and The Province offices have also worked with 3M Canada to wrap windows and elevators in high-traffic areas with athlete imagery and artwork.
Finally, marking the one-year countdown to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Opening Ceremony, all ten of Canwest’s regional publications – The Gazette, The Ottawa Citizen, Windsor Star , Regina Leader-Post, Saskatoon Star-Phoenix, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, The Vancouver Sun, The Province and the Victoria Times Colonist – are changing their masthead to include the Vancouver 2010 Official Supplier mark, a first for Canwest.
