Disney is bringing its new movie Oz the Great and Powerful to the streets, with experiential teams in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton this weekend.
The experiential execution was created with Simon Pure Marketing and Walt Disney Studios. It consists of street teams that include a lookalike of James Franco’s character in the movie, Oscar Diggs, accompanied by a life-size model of Finley, the winged monkey that accompanies Franco in the film. Brand ambassadors will be travelling with the pair, handing out posters and collector’s items from the movie, which launches in theatre on March 8.
People who catch the street teams (appearing between noon and 6 p.m. this Saturday and again next Friday from 7 to 10 a.m. in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver), can take a photo and tweet it using the hashtags #FlyingMonkey and #Oz to win a prize pack from the movie, according to a Disney release.
The street teams will be at locations including Yonge & Dundas Square and St. Lawrence Market in Toronto, Le Vieux Port and Silver City Montreal in Montreal, TD Eaton Centre and the Scotiabank Chinook Centre in Calgary, Downtown Commerce Court and Whyte Avenue in Edmonton and Robson Square and Yaletown in Vancouver. Additional locations can be found through Disney’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
