Toronto radio veteran John Derringer has signed on for 10 more years with the Toronto-based classic rock station Q107.
Derringer, the host of Derringer in the Morning, started at Q107 in 1984, before leaving in 1993 and returning as the morning show host in 2000.
According to BBM numbers for the 13-week period covering Aug. 30 to Nov. 28, the station is #1 in Toronto for males 25 to 54 years old, posting a 13.7% share (down from 14.3% in the last 13-week period).
‘Corus is my home, and Q107 is the family room where we get to sit and have a laugh every day with the very loyal Q107 audience,’ said Derringer in a statement. ‘In the entertainment business, there’s nothing more important than being surrounded by people who understand and support what you do.’
With the new contract, Derringer will continue his morning drive duties on the Corus-owned station for the foreseeable future.
