* Dogs are most popular in the Prairies, with 39% of Prairie residents living in households with dogs. Cats are most popular in BC, with 40% of British Columbians living in households with cats.
* 62% of Canadians who live in households with pets have dogs and 61% have cats.
* 39% of Canadians who live in households with pets have dogs but not cats, and 38% have cats but not dogs.
*23% of Canadians who live in households with cats or dogs have both cats and dogs.
* Female-headed households with children are 40% more likely than average households to have both dogs and cats.
* Households that have dogs but not cats have an average yearly income of $75,000, while households that have cats but not dogs have an average income of $67,000.
* 49% of people in households with cats feed their cats canned food, versus 22% of people in households with dogs who feed their dogs canned food.
* Canadians living in households with dogs but not cats are 30% more likely to drive an SUV.
* Canadians living in households with cats but not dogs are 20% less likely to drive a pick-up or SUV.
* The top 3 media for yesterday exposure for people in households with cats or dogs are: TV (88%), radio (82%) and Internet (62%).
* 16% (2.2 million) of Canadians in dog- or cat-owning households are reached by News/Talk radio, and14% (2 million) by stations with an Adult Contemporary format.
