TSN and RDS pulled in 7.1 million viewers for the World Juniors’ gold medal game on Monday night, according to preliminary overnight data from Numeris.
That marks a best-ever audience record for a Canadian specialty channel as Team Canada prevailed over Team Russia in the tournament final.
TSN secured an average 6 million viewers, and RDS another 1.13 million eyeballs, a bigger combination than the average of 6.7 million viewers that tuned into the 2011 gold medal game on TSN and RDS.
Overall, 19.4 million viewers, or around half of Canadians, tuned in to view some or all of TSN and RDS’s coverage of the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship held in Montreal and Toronto.
The average audience for the seven Team Canada games was 3.8 million, a new high.
