Just as we were coming to terms with Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune’s departure from the CBC, Channel Zero-owned CHCH surprises with news that the shows will continue on its channel.
The channel, which primarily serves news programming to Hamilton and surrounding Halton and Niagara regions, announced at yesterday’s upfront that it has picked up the long-standing game shows for its primetime roster.
Wheel of Fortune will air from Monday to Saturday in simulcast with CBS at 7 p.m. with Jeopardy following at 7:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 3.
CHCH also announced that it has picked up What Would You Do? (a hidden camera show that sets up scenarios to see how bystanders react) to air Fridays at 9 p.m. in simulcast with ABC.
“The additions of Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and What Would You Do? bring our simulcast programming to 14.5 hours a week,” said Geoff Thrasher, general sales manager, Channel Zero, in a statement. He added that the channel has seen a 20% increase in adults 25 to 54 and a 40% gain in women 25 to 54 during primetime over the past year.
Also new to the primetime schedule is Bones, airing at 8 p.m. (just before Supernatural at 9 p.m.), followed by the channel’s new back-to-back comedy slot with Family Guy at 10 p.m. and American Dad at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
And lastly, Dish Nation, an entertainment and celebrity gossip show will begin to air Monday to Friday at 4:30 p.m. and again at 12:00 a.m. in September.
