The Toronto Star adds Layar

Tomorrow's issue will feature over 30 pages and ads with interactive elements.

Tomorrow’s issue of the Toronto Star is getting interactive, with over 30 pages of editorial and ads incorporating interactive Layar augmented reality technology.

The “Go Beyond” issue, which is being produced in partnership with Nissan Canada, includes photos that turn into videos, columnists speaking about their articles and cartoons becoming animated when the app is swiped over certain pages, according to a release on the issue.

Each section’s front page will come to life with the Layar app, and readers are being encouraged to visit the “Go Beyond” webpage to download the Layar app and enter for the chance to win a $3,000 travel voucher from Nissan Canada and Flight Centre.

This isn’t the first time Nissan Canada has incorporated Layar into its ads, the brand previously worked with Postmedia using the technology.
