Mindshare wins Nordstrom in Canada

The GroupM agency will handle media planning and buying ahead of the retailer's 2016 expansion into Toronto.

Mindshare Canada has won the media business for Nordstrom in Canada.

The GroupM agency joins DDB in handling the launch campaign for the retailer north of the border. It takes over from the Omnicom Media Group, which won the account in 2013 and will wrap responsibilities on it at the end of this year.

Mindshare also handles media for Nordstrom in the U.S. The retailer has opened stores in Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa to date. In 2016 it will expand into Toronto, opening stores in CF’s Eaton Centre and Sherway Gardens and Oxford’s Yorkdale.

Nordstrom is one of two high-end retailers opening in Toronto next year. It will be joined by Saks Fifth Avenue, which is opening stores at CF Eaton Centre and Sherway Gardens in February. Saks currently has an OOH campaign live around Toronto, and a life-sized snow globe inside the Eaton Centre promoting its upcoming launch.
