RBC reigns supreme in Montreal, Toronto: Media Monitors

Banks, credit unions, mortgage and financial services were the top category in the Toronto market.

This week marked another big week for the financial services category in radio buying, with RBC taking first place in both Toronto and Montreal.

According to the Media Monitors for Oct. 15 to 21, RBC Royal Bank was the top buyer in the Toronto market, rising from fifth place last week with a play count of 1,537.

RBC was followed by President’s Choice Financial at #2 and last week’s champ TD Bank at #3, with play count of 752 and 707 respectively. BMW X5 and Hudson’s Bay – which shot up from #34 spot last week – rounded out the top five.

New buyers to the top 10 were Honda Dealer Association at #7 and Air Canada Vacations at #9.

RBC was also the top buyer in the Montreal market with a play count of 394, taking the #1 spot from CTV, which fell into second place. Hudson’s Bay also rose in this market to #3 (up from #39).

GM Certified Services and Shoppers Drug Mart rounded out the top five in the city.

For categories, banks, credit unions, mortgage and financial services stayed at #1 in Toronto, with an increase in total spots to 4,381 from. Cars and trucks, dealer association came in at #2.

In the Montreal market, despite the big buy from RBC, cars and trucks (Asian factory) was #1 category with a play count of 1054.
