It’s confirmed: Grey’s, Good Doctor and more returning in November

Despite production complications for the network's top show, it's making its official return this fall.

Production shutdowns left the fall TV season to play out a little differently this year.

Rather than being able to announce a detailed slate in June with premiere dates following throughout the summer, networks including Bell Media’s CTV had to provide more general information at their Upfront – confirming what shows are returning, but not necessarily when. As such, networks have had to roll out the announcements of their schedules and premiere dates more gradually.

The latest announcement from CTV, however, confirms that there will indeed be a fall return of some of the country’s biggest shows in terms of audience. The Good Doctor, which was nearly undefeated last year in terms of AMA, will return in November, along with Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19. And, in October, The Conners, The Goldbergs and This Is Us will all hit the airwaves once again.

It all begins Oct. 21, when The Conners premieres at 7:30 p.m., followed by the two-episode premiere of The Goldbergs at 8 p.m. The shows will not regularly air at those times, however, and the next week (Oct. 28) will move to 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. respectively. Oct. 28 will also see the return of American Housewife at 8:30 p.m. on CTV2.

This Is Us will stick to the Tuesday 9 p.m. slot as it has for the last for years. The tearjerker show will return to viewers Oct. 27.

On Nov. 2, The Good Doctor will return. Although it’s a U.S. production, the show is filmed in Vancouver and will have a tighter turnaround than usual. The fourth season was initially set to resume filming in early August, but the return to production was stalled due to COVID testing protocols, according to MiC sister publication Playback. The matter was resolved by mid-August and production resumed Sept. 2, but according to Creative BC, the show is scheduled to continue shooting its fourth season until next May.

Nov. 12 will see the return of two Shondaland giants, Station 19 (7 p.m.) and Grey’s Anatomy (9 p.m.). The episode of Grey’s will feature a cross-over, with characters from Station 19 being featured in the episode.

New acquisition Big Sky will premiere Nov. 17 and airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m., while returning series For Life will return Nov. 18.
