QSRs, food and beverage hungry for more radio play: Media Monitors

Restaurants and grocers upped their play counts in Toronto, while government stayed on top in Montreal.

Lotteries continued to hold the top spot in Toronto, but QSRs and the food and beverage retailer categories significantly increased their radio spots, according to the latest data from Media Monitors.

The OLG was once again the top radio advertiser and lotteries the top category, with the QSR category increasing its play count by almost 250%, up to 2040 from 587 the week before.

Food and beverage retailers also increased drastically, jumping from 178 to 1319.

At the account level, that translated into Subway and Sobeys making appearances in Toronto’s top 10.

Speedy Glass also made the list in Toronto since its last appearance around the same time in March of last year, coming in fourth with 1032 (compared to its fourth place listing a year ago, with a play count of 689).

In Montreal, play counts stayed relatively flat and consistent with previous weeks: the government of Quebec, the federal government and the CDIC maintained the top three spots. But Subway also made its way into the top 10 with a play count of 265, and Hyundai jumped into fourth from outside the rankings with 292.
