Automakers buy big in Montreal: Media Monitors

Meanwhile, Bell holds on to its spot as the most active radio advertiser in Toronto.

Auto brands are making a big fall radio push in Montreal, according to Media Monitors data for the week of Oct. 11 to 17.

While the government of Quebec continues to be the top buyer in Montreal, GM, Hyundai and Nissan all made big buys to join the ranks of the most active radio advertisers in the city. Volkswagen also continued to be a major presence, while QSRs McDonald’s and Subway had only slight drops from the week prior. Bell also increased its buy in Montreal, jumping into the top 10 from the 45th spot the previous week.

That led to foreign and local automakers being the two most active categories in Montreal, followed by government ads.

In Toronto, Bell held on to its top spot from the previous week. Planet Fitness and Speedy Glass also upped their buys to the take the second and third spots, respectively, while Ford, Ontario Tourism and Toyota all made big pushes to debut in the top ten. Desjardins, Subway and McDonald’s also remained highly active in the area’s radio market.

Categorically, it was banks and financial services that were the most present on Toronto’s airwaves, followed by QSRs and automakers.
