Marne Levine, global chief business officer at Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta, will be leaving the company after 13 years, leading to expanded roles for two company’s executives.
Levine held a number of senior roles within the company, including the first COO of Instagram. She took her current role in 2021, assuming leadership of the company’s advertising and business partnership teams.
Her last day in the role will be Feb. 23, but will remain a Meta employee until the summer, following a transition period.
As a result of Levine’s departure, Nicola Mendelsohn, VP of Meta’s global business group, has been named head of Meta’s global business group, overseeing global partnerships and engineering. Mendelsohn’s new teams will be integrated with those she already oversees in the global business group, which handle relationships with marketers and agencies. This “single client-facing organization” is meant to strengthen Meta’s ads business, “create operational efficiencies and improve execution.”
Justin Osofsky, chief operating officer of Instagram, has been named head of online sales, operations and partnerships, expanding his remit to include revenue generation, sales and operations for small and medium-sized businesses on Meta’s platforms. He will also continue to oversee the content partnership team.
Earlier this month, during the company’s Q4 earnings presentation, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that 2023 would be “a year of efficiency” at the company as it attempted to pull back on costs. In addition to previously announced layoffs, this would also include restructuring to become a “flatter” organization, with fewer management positions.
