Two years ago, 56 diary markets were discontinued by Numeris, leaving us with our current 22, reporting central area only. All 22 Numeris markets were measured under continuous measurement, using the Online Radio Diary. Whereas RadioCount uses individual recruitment, Numeris continues to use household recruitment.
All that being said, let’s take a look at five sample markets from the latest Numeris release. This covers the period of May 2, 2022 to April 30, 2023. It is worth mentioning that radio reached 84% of adults 25 to 54 in that time period.
Ottawa-Gatineau
Bragging rights at the top of the ratings heap go to CBC Radio One,delivering an 17.8% share for adults (though that is down from 18.8%). CBC Radio One also grabs the top spot with women 25 to 54, delivering a 12.5% share followed by Hot 89.9, with 10.4%. CBC Radio One holds the top for men 25 to 54 as well, posting a 10.7% share, followed by CHEZ 106 at 9.1%. CHEZ 106 boasts a formidable lead for men 18 to 34 with a 23.1% share. For women 18 to 34, Hot 89.9 has a substantial lead, posting a 19.7% share.
Winnipeg
CBC Radio One grabs the top spot overall with a 15.4% share of hours tuned.
Top spot for women 25-54 goes to QX104 Country with a 13.3% share. For men 25 to 54, 92.1 CITI-FM is tops with an 11.8 %. Energy 106 heads the list for men 18 to 34 with a 17.2%, followed by Virgin Radio at 15.8%. Energy 106 is also the favourite for women in the same age group at a 14.3% share, followed by Virgin with 12.6%.
Halifax
CBC Radio One takes number one, posting an impressive 20.6% share of hours tuned.
Move 100 takes top spot for women 25-54, delivering a 12.8% share, followed by Virgin at 10.9%. Q104 tops the list for men 25 to 54 with a 15.2% share. For men 18 to 34, Q104 takes the lead with 24.4 %. When it comes to women 18 to 34, Virgin takes top spot, posting a 23.6% share.
Hamilton
For origination stations based in the region, country station KX 94.7 leads the way with a 7.1% share, followed by hits station Bounce 102.9 with 6.1%. KX 94.7 is also the most popular across different demographic groups, leading with women 25 to 54 (11.1% share), men 25 to 54 (8.3%, followed by Bounce at 7.7%), men 18 to 34 (10.1% share) and women 18 to 34 (14%).
Victoria
CBC Radio One is number one with a 19.6% share (down from 21.5%). Virgin takes the top spot for women 25 to 54, delivering a 15.1 % share, followed by the Zone at 14.2%. For men 25 to 54, The Q is on top at 20.0% share, followed sister station the Zone with 12.3%. For men 18 to 34, Virgin leads with 18.7%, followed by the Zone at 15.7 and the Q with 15.6%. In a tight race for women 18 to 34, the leader is Virgin, posting a 21.4%, followed by The Q at 20.1%.
