Samsung TV Plus makes late night a 24-hour affair

The service has added Conan O'Brien TV to its service, featuring 30-minute segments from the comedian's long-running eponymous series.

Samsung TV Plus (STVP) is looking to give a comedic twist to its offering in Canada with the domestic launch of a new FAST channel called Conan O’Brien TV.

The free 24-hour channel is now available on STVP Canada and features 30-minute segments from the late-night talk show Conan, which aired from 2010 to 2021.

Samsung is bringing the channel to Canada after launching it in the U.S. in May. It joins the STVP offer of more than 115 channels available on all Samsung TVs, which number 5.5 million in Canada.

Samsung is continuing to invest in premium content because it is seeing the results on the revenue side, says Dave Pauk, Samsung Ads director and head of Canadian sales.

“Consumer demand for ad-supported streaming has accelerated, and as a result brings more premium inventory into the market, which is good for consumers and advertisers. This is why we continue to invest in our own popular free streaming service, Samsung TV Plus,” he tells MiC. “FAST services are now playing an increasingly greater role in the connected TV ecosystem as they compete to win consumers’ loyalty and advertisers’ dollars,” says Pauk.

Samsung recently added Homeful, a channel featuring content from Canadian celeb contractor Mike Holmes and HauntTV channel, which features paranormal-themed content. Both channels were from Blue Ant Media.
