Turo signs as an official partner of Canada Basketball

As Canada’s men’s and women’s teams ramp up to the Summer Olympics in Paris, the sponsorship will involve several contests and a presence at basketball games and events.

Canadian car-sharing marketplace Turo has signed on as official partner of Canada Basketball, just in time for the Summer Olympics in Paris. Turo’s involvement includes a contest to send lucky fans on a trip to Las Vegas as Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team faces the United States in exhibition action this July. In addition to round-trip airfare, accommodation and tickets to the game, the winners will journey to the Grand Canyon in a luxury vehicle from Turo.

“We are proud to partner with Canada Basketball to support our homegrown athletes as they embark on an exciting journey,” says Cedric Mathieu, SVP and head of Turo Canada. “We know our Turo community crave memorable experiences and this partnership will open the doors for fans around the country to participate in something special.”

Turo and Canada Basketball are also staging several other “Only on Turo” digital contesting opportunities to bring fans close to the action at upcoming Canada Basketball games and events nationwide. Throughout the summer, the two organizations will provide fans with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Canada Basketball’s Senior Men’s and Women’s National Teams as they prepare to take on the world. The series will be shared across Canada Basketball’s social media network. Turo will also be on-site at upcoming Canada Basketball games and tournaments.

Michael Bartlett, president and CEO of Canada Basketball, says, “We’re thrilled to welcome Turo to the Canada Basketball team as we continue our drive towards Paris. Our organizations have a shared commitment to connecting communities across Canada, and with the exciting opportunities ahead of us this summer, we hope Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast will join us on this journey.”

Canada Basketball is the national sporting organization for the sport of basketball in Canada. The organization is recognized by the International Amateur Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the Government of Canada as the sole governing body of amateur basketball in Canada. It is a not-for-profit organization, represents all basketball interests and provides leadership, coordination and direction in all areas of basketball.

Turo operates across the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, and France through a community of trusted hosts that share their vehicles with business and vacation travelers. The company’s goal is to put the world’s 1.5 billion cars to better use.
