Mark Shopiro upped to head of Prime Video in Canada

The promotion is part of a reorganization of the platform's Canadian, Australian and New Zealand teams.

Mark Shopiro has been promoted to head of Prime Video in Canada as part of an organizational restructure of the streamer’s teams in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Shopiro (pictured left) has worked at Amazon since 2019, most recently heading up engagement, marketplace, and sports business for Prime Video in Canada. In his new role, he reports to Magda Grace, head of Prime Video for Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Additionally, Dan Slepak (pictured right) has been upped to the newly created role of head of marketplace for Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, also reporting to Grace. Slepak was previously senior content acquisitions manager at Prime Video International. Prior to joining Amazon in 2022, he was VP, digital distribution at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Prime Video’s Canadian team also includes Brent Hayes, head of international originals; Shaun Alperin, head of content; and Owen McCorquodale, head of communications.

Prime Video unveiled a new slate of Canadian unscripted originals in June, including three projects from comedian Tom Green and series from C3 Media, Blink49 Studios, Blue Ant Studios and Peacock Alley Entertainment.
