Scene+ joins with a bevy of brands to launch gift card program

Partners in the new program include Home Hardware, TJX, Sobeys, Safeway and FreshCo.

Scene+ is looking to reward Canadians this Christmas with a gift card program that includes more than 60 brands in categories such as entertainment, dining, groceries and travel.

The program is part of the Scene’s new campaign, “Window Wonderland,” which focuses on offering its members the opportunity to do their holiday shopping with less stress, and give generously, while rewarding themselves. Partners in the new program include Home Hardware, TJX and a grocery essentials gift card, which is redeemable at Sobeys, Safeway and FreshCo. The program also features customized offers such as 10% back in points on select gift card redemptions. Gift cards are delivered electronically within 48 hours.

Candice Troupe, senior VP of marketing and partnerships at Scene+, said the company is launching the program to highlight the brand at a time when Canadians appreciate personalization and value in their holiday shopping.

“Our mission is to enrich the lives of our members, and we designed this holiday shopping campaign and expanded gift card program to do just that,” Troupe said. “Through them, members can redeem rewards faster, benefit from customized promotions and find the right gift for any holiday occasion.”

According to her, the program builds on a recent survey commissioned by the Retail Council of Canada in partnership with Leger, which revealed that more than 42% of Canadians consider gift cards a flexible holiday gifting option. The RCC and Leger Holiday Shopping Survey showed that shoppers across Canada are determined to make the most of the season despite financial pressures, with 90% carefully managing their budgets and actively seeking deals amid inflation and rising costs.

In the survey, respondents also listed entertainment (food and alcohol) as one of the top spending categories for this year’s holidays, and the program capitalizes on this, Troupe said.

With that same aim of highlighting the brand during shopping season, Scene+ has also released several Black Friday offers exclusive to its members. In partnership with Expedia, the brand is offering them to save 40%, in addition to earning three points per dollar, when booking travel through Scene+ Travel. Cineplex, meanwhile, is offering 3,500 points to members who purchase a one-year CineClub membership between Nov. 29 and Dec. 2.
