The 25th annual Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada takes place Saturday, January 18 in Canmore, Alberta, with the event being live-streamed for free in six languages (in addition to English and French) on Sportsnet.ca, Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
The 12.5-hour marathon broadcast features all seven Canadian NHL teams in action. The games will be streamed in Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Tagalog, Gujarati and Spanish online, with Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition airing live on OMNI, and Hockey Night in Canada in Cree on APTN.
The multilingual broadcast of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada supports Scotiabank’s goal to make hockey more accessible and diverse by breaking down both cultural and financial barriers to the game through its “Hockey for All” initiative.
“Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada is all about bringing people together from communities across Canada to celebrate our shared passion for hockey and sport,” says Karen Birss, regional SVP, Prairies at Scotiabank. “We are thrilled to be bringing the broadcast of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada games to viewers in six different languages, for the first time ever, making this special event more accessible to hockey’s growing fan base across the country.”
Ron MacLean hosts Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada live from Canmore Golf and Curling Club and Canmore Rec Centre along with Sportsnet’s David Amber, Elliotte Friedman, Kyle Bukauskas, Kevin Bieksa, Jennifer Botterill, Kelly Hrudey and Evanka Osmak. Randip Janda, Taqdeer Thindal and Gurp Sian will also host Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition live from Canmore. Special guests include Calgary Flames alumni Lanny McDonald, Colin Patterson, Matt Stajan, Curtis Glencross, and Jay Bouwmeester, as well as NHL alumni Andrew Ference.
