Subway restaurants dominated the airwaves during the week of Jan. 6 to 12, according to the latest AdEase report.

With 6,362 combined occurrences, the QSR placed first in Calgary and second in Vancouver and Toronto, while it came in fourth in Edmonton and Montreal, fifth in Ottawa, and eighth in Quebec. It increased its spend compared to the previous radio buying week, as it did not appear on that list.

McDonald’s was the second most active advertiser of the week, with 4,541 total instances, 2,408 more than the prior week. Meanwhile, the third most active advertiser was Spence Diamonds (3,543 occurrences), followed by Desjardins Group (3,496 occurrences), PC President’s Choice (2,799 occurrences) and Destination Ontario (2,587 occurrences). Compared to last week, Spence and Desjardins increased their purchase, while PC decreased it.

Overall, among the advertisers that moved the most on the list were Capital One Financial, which jumped 203 positions in Calgary; Montreal International Auto Show, which rose 210 spots in Montreal; and Government of Quebec, which was up 178 places in that city. On the category side, the groups that moved up the most were credit cards in Calgary; gyms in Edmonton; live performance shows in Montreal; and local government in Quebec.
